The Department of State Services (DSS), after several evasive rebuttals has owned up that the suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr Godwin Emefiele is in their custody.


In a terse statement, entitled: “EMEFIELE, NOW IN DSS CUSTODY”, the DSS confirmed it had taken in the suspended Governor  CBN.


The statement reads:

“The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby confirms that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is now in its custody for some investigative reasons.


“The public, particularly the media, is enjoined to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this.”

Dailyledger.com.ng reports that the same DSS spokesperson, Afunanya, early Saturday was quoted  by Vanguard newspaper to have denied having Emefiele in their custody. Afunanya, while responding to an email query by the newspaper quiped: “Currently, Emefiele is not with the DSS”.
