Abia State Governor Alex Otti on Sunday dismissed insinuations that  his administration is indifferent to the continued   incarceration of  leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, saying he is working very hard, but covertly for his release.


Explaining that it is not the Bola Tinubu administration that detained Kanu, the Abia chief executive maintained that since other approaches had failed he has adopted a different approach, "...I believe in results, not media hype", he replied to a question on the issue, adding that his approach is different, and  are not on the pages of the newspaper, and   that he would only come to the public domain with  results


 Gov Otti was speaking at the second edition of the Monthly Media Interactive session held at the Government House, Umuahia 


 Kanu kidnapped in Kenya  and repatriated to Nigeria had been in detention since 2021. The various legal battles for his release had met brick wall so far.  A date has been fixed at the  Supreme Court for  December 15, 2023, on the appeal that seeks to compel the Federal Government to release the embattled leader of IPOB


 The appeal was filed by Kanu's legal team, led by a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Kanu Agabi, SAN, after the Court of Appeal in Abuja had ordered Kanu's release from detention and quashed a 15-count terrorism charge that the Federal Government had brought against him
