The visit of Abia State First Lady, Mrs Priscilla Chidinma Otti to Aro-Ajatakiri community brought joy to the community as packages of goodies was announced for the community which has suffered absence of governance for years.
In addition to the construction of a 6 kilometres road from Umuigu through Aro Ajatakiri to Ubakala, five boreholes has been earmarked to dug for the community.These were some of the goodies promised the community in Ikwuano LGA when the wife of Abia State governor, Mrs Otti in company of Ikwuano LGA Transition Committee Chairman, Hon Osinachi Nwaka visited the community on Wednesday. Of the five boreholes, the State government would construct two while the LG administration would construct three.
Also in the entourage was member representing Ikwuano State Constituency in the House of Assembly, Hon Boniface Isienyi
During the visit, Mrs Otti announced that the State Government has come to the aid of the community whose source of water was polluted by unknown persons. She equally donated the sum of N500,000 to the community in addition to food items
In his remarks, Hon Isienyi said that the State government through Ministry of Environment are investigating the causes of the the water pollution and the water analysis result will soon come out.
Dailyledger.com.ng reports that Aro Ajatakiri in Ajata-na-Igu Autonomous Community, Ikwuano LGA of Abia State recently had its stream and the source of water in the community contaminated at the weekend resulting to the death of fishes and destruction of the other aquatic lives therein.
Yet to be verified report trace the ugly development to an alleged large quantity of Gammalin 20 deposited in the stream by unknown persons, or manufacturing company
In his brief remarks, the Mayor Ikwuano, Hon Nwaka reassured the people of Aro Ajatakiri of his unwavering support and commitment to their well being
On hand to receive the visitors was Hon Ugo Nwankwo, councillor representing ward 4 in the Ikwuano LG administration who hails from the community
