Academic activities have been halted at  Abia State University Uturu as members of ABSU-ASUU embarks on  protest over non-payment of 11 months salary arrears Speaking during the protest,  Dr. Chidi Mba declared  that the lecturers are being owned 11 months salary arrears and urged the government to fast-track action on the as their members are  dying of hunger and unable to foot their hospital bills.

Several lecturers who spoke to dailyledger.com.ng  wondered why the government are not stating the true position of affairs and appealed to the government to pay  their salary arrears  without delay.
