Tunji Bello


President Bola Tinubu has appointed one of his loyalists and former aide, Olatunji Bello as the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).


His appointment is subject to confirmation by the Senate.


Bello, former newspaper editor and lawyer served as Commissioner for Information and Strategy during Tinubu's governorship administration in Lagos State, 1999-2007.


He later served as  Secretary to the Lagos State Government 


Bello takes over from Babatunde Irukera who was sacked by the President in January.


Irukera was sacked alongside the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Alex Okoh,  ostensibly to pave way for restructuring and repositioning of critical agencies of the Federal Government towards protecting the rights of Nigerian consumers and providing a strong basis for enhanced contributions to the nation’s economy by key growth-enabling institution
