A Honourable Commissioner of the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, ABSIEC, Hon Ezeri Enyinnaya has reiterated that the electoral umpire would always work in line with its enabling law to conduct a free and fair elections, stressing that the Commission was set up as an independent body so that it could operate without external interference according to rule of law and  properly laid down rules and guidelines

Hon Enyinnaya was speaking at Umuana Community, Ndume - Ibeku, home of Nigeria's first military Head of State, late General J T U Aguiyi-Ironsi when he guided the community to conduct a rancour free election.

It was a situation that would have degenerated into fisticuffs and bloody fight. The candidates contesting for positions in the Executive of Umuana Community Development were wary of entrusting the election to any of its members, then the Commission was brought in as an unbiased umpire

"When an election is free and fair and a winner emerges, it brings about peace and tranquility, but when a winner is smuggled in through the backdoor, what follows is crisis, destruction and bloodshed", Enyinnaya remarked after the election.

He added that with the God sent Governor Alex Otti administration in place, ABSIEC will always do the right thing for the people
