An Abia citizen, John Billion on Wednesday took to his social media page to blast officials of Abia State Government for publication and sharing of fake news

The Abia who goes by the name of John Billion in his Facebook page stated:

"Once a government, for any reason at all, joins in publishing and/or sharing fake news they open a door that ultimately consumes  them. For leaders, it harms their reputation irretrievably and reduces them to pedestrian beings of no substance, no matter how highly placed in the past or present.

"Yesterday, I saw the attached FAKE publication being shared by officials of Abia State Government. The most shocking to me was a former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who, in the past have sued and threatened young people with the courts and security agents over publications he estimated were malicious, also sharing the same material even in his community platform. I shook my head in pity.

"Same past and serving government officials now engaging in deliberate publication and sharing of obvious fake news will normally be the first to complain yet they are fully engaged and celebrate such crap behavior today without second thoughts.

"TUFIAKWA!!!

"It is really sad that crime (cybercrimes included) in Nigeria remains a matter of opportunity not necessarily an issue of morality  or upbringing. That is the only explanation I can find for serving and former government officials producing and sharing fake news for any reason at all.

"Anyway, if the whole idea is to stop us from asking relevant questions they should try even much harder. Let those involved just know that nothing is hidden in politics and whatever you do will ultimately bounce back to haunt you and even consume you if negative.  O metara buru!!!

"For now, some of the questions that MUST be answered by Abia State Government, led by Alex Otti are: WHERE ARE THE FOLLOWING PROJECTS FOR WHICH HUMONGOUS SUMS HAVE BEEN SPENT BY THE OTTI ADMINISTRATION LOCATED IN ABIA STATE?

"1. Construction & Rehabilitation of Public Schools- N11.94bn

2. Construction & Rehabilitation of Office Buildings - N4.8bn

3. Construction of Infrastructure - N3bn

4. Research & Development  - N7.28bn

5. Capacity Building - N3bn

6. Erosion Control - N1bn

7. Construction of Recreational Facilities - N6.5bn

8. Construction/Rehabilitation of Various Completely Failed Roads -N10bn

9. Construction of Agricultural Facilities - N1.6bn

10. Construction/Rehabilitation of Law Courts - N2.14bn

11. Construction of Hospitals - N3bn

12. Procurement of Agric Seedlings - N4.2bn

13. Water Projects - N770m

14. Construction of ICT Center - N2.46bn

15. Water Pollution Prevention & Control - N805m

16. Capacity Building - N3bn

17. Security Vote - N14bn

"Rather than embark on frivolous propaganda, all the government needed to do was to simply show our people where the projects are located or explain what the money was used for in each case. The figures were published by the state government, and a citizen, Eke Ako, analyzed and extracted the data from July 2023 to date.

"Nobody invented the data and it certainly came from the official website of the government. Hence, publishing fake news, resort to threats and intimidation tactics will NEVER SUFFICE.

"Finally, Mazi Alex Chioma Otti, do you know who actually made this promise to the people of Abia State?

"“Transparency, accountability, and public trust shall be at the centre of everything we do. We will run a responsible and honest government and lead by example. We will not tolerate any form of corruption or stealing of public property. Gratification and kickbacks are totally forbidden in this government. There shall be no room for corrupt practices and the full weight of the law shall be deployed in tackling all cases of indiscipline or any act that brings the service into disrepute.”

"Mr Governor Sir, tell that person to quit chasing shadows and do the right thing immediately by showing the people where the projects are located.

"Adam! O, Adam, where are you? Cover your nakedness, O Adam, and stop chasing those holding you to your own word.  Thou great shark of Abia State, vomit what you have swallowed and know peace",
