Engr. Alphonsus Okoro

Local Government Council chairman hopeful for Uzo Uwani LGA, Engr. Alphonsus Okoro has committed to restoring peace and security in  Uzo Uwani farmlands within six months if elected as the Local Government Chairman for Uzo Uwani LG

Engr Okoro, during an interactive session with the youths on August 1, 2024,  shared his personal connection to the LG, recounting his upbringing as an active farmer engaged in rice cultivation, hunting, and other agricultural activities.

"I was brought up here in Uzo Uwani and my business was rice farming as I grew older. Farming is our source of livelihood and business. It is therefore disheartening that our youths, our parents are being driven away from their farms. Even non farmers are afraid to settle here. From a fast developing community, Uzo Uwani is facing retrogression in all facets of socio-economic development.

"But I promise our people that if elected the LG chairman for Uzo Uwani, insecurity and fear of the unknown will be a thing of the past within six months of my swearing in"

He explained that key components of his game plan includes  innovative deployment of surveillance technology.

"Information technology is breaking down barriers and enhancing lifestyles, therefore as an immediate action once I assume office, we will  procure and install spy cameras across farmlands to monitor activities and ensure immediate responses to any suspicious movements"

He maintained that such innovative use of technology to tackle insecurity had been successfully implemented in Kebbi and Katsina States, affirming that technological intelligence has proved to be more effective compared to traditional security methods.

Engr. Okoro further proffered that he would leverage his expertise and established relationships with security agencies nationwide to provide a long term, lasting measures.

"Having grown up here, I have become well-acquainted with the tactics employed by bandits and am  confident that  peace and security would return to Uzo Uwani through a combination of strategic interventions and innovative technological deployment.

He however emphasized that security matters are highly sensitive and should not be discussed indiscriminately and  assured  that he would reveal his strategic plans once he is in office.
