Abia State-born irrepressible social critic, political activist, community leader, commentator on national issues, unrepentant philanthropist, and pro-good governance advocate, Dr. Monday Onyekachi Ubani has been elevated to the Inner Bar and would be sworn in as Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN on September 30, 2024
In a release Thursday, the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee at its 164th plenary session under the chairmanship of Hon Justice Olukayode Ariwoola stated that 86 other legal practitioners were equally elevated to the Inner Bar and would be sworn in as SANs too.
SAN is awarded as a mark of excellence to legal practitioners who have distinguished themselves as Advocates and Academics.
Ubani to his legal activism is popularly referred to as the 2nd Senior Advocate of the Masses after late Chief Gani Fawehinmi
Ubani is the Principal Partner of the law firm of Ubani & Co. He established the firm in 1991 shortly after his NYSC programme. He attended University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he obtained an LL.B(Second class upper division) degree, and was called to the bar in 1990 after bagging a B.L(Second class upper division) from the Nigerian Law School. He is also a holder of LL.M degree in Comparative Constitutional & Company Law which he obtained from the University of Lagos.
He began his professional working career as Pupil Counsel in the law firm of K.C Ugbuajah & Co in Kano during his NYSC programme. He is the Company Secretary/Director to A.G.M.B.S and External Solicitor to several companies
