Chief Ikechukwu Nzeribe Orunta

The  Labour Party, LP Chairmanship aspirant for November 2 scheduled LGA elections, Chief Ikechukwu Nzeribe Orunta on Sunday dismissed insinuations that he is angling for Deputy Chairman of the LG and not really in the race for Chairmanship.


"That is laughable,  though I do not find it funny at all",  Chief Orunta told dailyledger.com.ng in a telephone conversation in his reaction to the rumours


"No, definitely no, Chief Ikechukwu Nzeribe Orunta is fully in the race for the Chairmanship of Ikwuano LG", he affirmed.


"Before I continue, let me appreciate the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) chairman, Professor George N. Chima who  while unveiling the programme of timetable for the election  assured all parties of the  Commission's commitment  to conduct a free, fair and credible elections in the State


"Indeed such assurances is what I have taken to my massive grassroots support base to assure them that our victory, first in the primary is certain and in the Nov 2 election doubly sure"


Orunta added that he is a grassroots mobiliser in the LG and currently have solid assurances that out of the ten wards in the LG, seven are totally in his support.


"With such massive grassroots support, how can I be dialoguing to play second fiddle? My focus is on the rapid transformation of Ikwuano LG and we have been consulting with the stakeholders, community leaders, youths, and market women. Our manifesto is already drawn up, and we are confident of getting the people's mandate in other to continue the socio-economic transformation of Ikwuano LG with the template our hardworking governor, Dr Alex Otti has provided. Our mission is to complement him at the LG and we are hard at work to realise our mission", Orunta submitted 


He further praised Gov Otti for selecting  men and women of integrity and outstanding pedigree, committed to changing the narratives as members of the electoral umpire.


Dailyledger.com.ng reports that Orunta,  a businessman and staunch party mobiliser in Oboro clan indeed  holds the aces  if the LP opts for free and fair primary as the electoral umpire promised 


He is the arrowhead of the sentiments in  favour of Oboro clan using its high number of wards to have an upper hand  in the  sharing of political position. 'It's equitable and just',  he says and appeals to the people's earnest desire for rapid socio-economic development and transformation that the financial autonomy for LG is sure to attract
