Ahead the Nov 2 scheduled date for Abia State Local Government Council elections, the Convener and Leader of For Us By Us movement, Ugwumba Chika Ishionwu on Thursday urged the Abia State government to create a level playing ground for all and allow the true voices of our people to rise.
Ugwumba Ishionwu, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC who noted that he would not be participating in the LG polls however affirmed that undue manipulation if the process towards selfish ends would definitely invite a revolt from the people
"...the commitment of the “For Us By Us” team remains unwavering. We desire nothing but the best for Ikwuano LG and call upon the government of Abia State to create a level playing ground, allowing the true voices of our people to rise"
The FUBU leader stressed in a press release that the pillars of democracy should not be compromised under any guise as the pulse on the streets will definitely resist such attempt.
"Ikwuano, Umuahia, and indeed all of Abia are discontent with the current state of affairs. If we do not see genuine, visible change soon, the resolve of our people will manifest into a necessary revolt", he warned
He further adds: "Let us remind the Labour Party, LP and their alter ego, the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, that many of us worked tirelessly for the vision of a New Abia. We will not hesitate to advocate for change if the pillars of democracy are compromised. The pulse on the streets speaks loudly; it is a call to action that should not be ignored.
"In the spirit of our “For Us By Us” movement, I leave you with this thought: “Change is not a gift, but a demand — for every voice echoes the heartbeat of the people", he submitted
