No fewer than  3,000 delegates drawn from the 21 local government Areas and three Senatorial districts of the state have converged to elect the party's new State Executive Councils who are to pilot the affairs of the People's Democractic Party (PDP) in Anambra.


Security has been beefed up in Awka Anambra' state currently as PDP hold their congresses to elect new chairman and other members of the State Executive council of the party.




The congress which took place Wednesday Oct 22, at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Center Awka was  flooded with armed security agencies including soldiers, plan cloth security operatives, anti riot policemen and officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).


The Enugu State Deputy Governor, Mr. Ifeanyi Ossai who is the chairman of the five man Congress Committee and Secretary of the committee, Mr Ndubuisi Eneh are present to midwife the congresses with 36 positions to be contested for.


Members of the Committee had last week rescheduled the Congress for (today) Wednesday.


Chief Chigozie Igwe is the current State Caretaker Chairman of PDP in the state 


Igwe took over from Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu who presided over the affairs of the party for three years.
