The alumni - Class 2010 - of Awom-n-Ebo Technical School, Amawom - Oboro in Ikwuano LGA of Abia State on Wednesday called on Abia State government for immediate intervention in the school to curtail incidents of petty burglary of classrooms and administrative offices; Overall security of school premises including fencing of the premises and deployment of security on 24/7 basis; plus  rehabilitation of the decaying infrastructures in the school.


Hon Abia,  Chairman of the Class of 2010 in his remarks during the visit appealed to the State Commissioner for Education and the Abia State Governor Alex Otti to consider the school as one of the schools to benefit from the ongoing State Government's intervention in schools across the State.

Hon Abia further added during the  solidarity visit to the school by the Class of 2010,  that government intervention is necessary to provide the school with basic learning tools and a conducive learning environment for students 


Hon Abia, in a motivational talk with the students counselled them to be of good behaviour and to be receptive to instructions from their teachers and school administrators in order to position themselves as worthy ambassadors of the school to the State in particular and the Country at large

In her reaction to the visit by the alumni Class of 2010, the Principal of the school, Mrs A. A.  Otti applauded the Class for remembering their Alma Mater and taking out time to visit. She enumerated several challenges facing the school including frequent burglaries of classrooms and administrative offices during which sensitive school materials and other installations including doors and windows are often stolen. She  appealed for support to appoint day/night security services as an interim measure until a long term measure is put in place.


Highlights of activities during the visit  include payment of PTA levies for ten students; Distribution of customized writing materials to all  students of the school and distribution of other learning materials 


In their personal capacities, the secretary of the Class of 2010, Rev Fidelis Umunnakwe also paid for the PTA levies for five students while Project Coordinator of the Alumni Class of 2010,   Mr  Chinedu Enyiazu (Nwa-Fada Arts) also paid PTA levies for eight students.


In a parting word, Hon Abia promised to look for measures to reduce the criminal activities in the school and promised to persecute anyone found culpable as the Class of 2010 would in the interim hire a security guard to watch over the school premises.
