The Local Organising Committee for the first ever Ikwuano Inter-Secondary School Quiz Competition on Wednesday unveiled the theme for the competition as "Igniting the Flame of Academic Excellence in our Next Generation of Leaders" 


About 200 secondary schools are expected at the event  scheduled to take place from  October 17 -18, 2024, at the Ikwuano Local Government Secretariat Multipurpose Hall, Isiala, Ikwuano LG 


The event, beginning at 9:00 AM daily, will bring together secondary school students from across Ikwuano to compete in a dynamic display of academic prowess.


In a statement,  Mr Charles Nnaji of the  Media and Publicity Team explained that the initiative by the Ikwuano Elite Forum, a social media platform was motivated by the desire to trigger academic excellence in Ikwuano secondary schools and encourage fraternal collaboration. 


He added that enthusiastic Ikwuano citizens at home and in the diaspora has enthusiastically embraced the vision through moral and material support.


"This competition seeks to foster a spirit of intellectual curiosity and academic excellence among the youths  of Ikwuano. Students from the four clans —Ariam Usaka, Ibere, Oboro, and Oloko —will gather to test their knowledge in subjects ranging from English, science and literature to history and current affairs


" This competition offers a rare opportunity for students to step out of their classrooms and engage in a contest that encourages critical thinking, teamwork, and personal growth",  Nnaji stated


The Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, LOC,  Dr. Obinna Ogbonna, emphasized the significance of the competition, explaining that, "This event is more than just a quiz—it's a celebration of our community's intellectual wealth and a commitment to nurturing future leaders. Through this competition, we aim to inspire our students to excel in their studies. We are building a foundation of knowledge and leadership that will serve our community for years to come.


"In addition to promoting academic achievement, the competition is designed to be a unifying force within the Ikwuano community. By bringing together students, teachers, and local leaders, the event serves as a platform for strengthening community ties and fostering a collective commitment to education.


"The quiz competition will not only provide a stage for showcasing academic talent but also reward outstanding performances with prizes and recognition. These rewards are intended to motivate students to continue striving for academic excellence.
