Anambra Anglican priest, Ven. Arinze Ajaefobi has regained freedom after several days in captivity.
Ajaefobi, an Archdeacon of Oyi Central Archdeaconry was abducted by gunmen on October 26 around 9:30pm at the gate of St James’ Parish in Awkuzu, Oyi local government area.
He was said to be the Vicar of the same Church which corganized prayer sessions for the his safe release and return.
His abductors, who initially did not establish contact with the family, was however said to have later demanded N50million ransom.
A family source who confirmed the release of the priest to our correspondent, said the abductors later reduced the ransom to N30million.
The source, however did not say whether the amount was eventually paid before the priest was freed.
“I want to thank you all for your prayers. I and my family are truly grateful we won’t forget your help in our lives,” the source said
