The National Judicial Council (NJC) of Nigeria has suspended Justice A.O Nwabunike of the Anambra State High Court and Justice G. C Aguma of the High Court of Rivers State and from performing judicial duties.
The duo were suspended without pay for one year and placed on a watch list for two years thereafter.
The spokesman of Nigeria Judicial Council, Kemi Babalola-Ogedengbe in a statement on Friday, 15th Nov said that the decision was taken at the 107th Meeting of the NJC, which was chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, on November 13 and 14, 2024.
Meanwhile, a total of 5 serving Judicial Officers were sanctioned for various acts of misconduct.
The Council also recommended two Heads of Court for compulsory retirement over age falsification.
They are the Chief Judge of Imo State, Hon. Justice T. E. Chukwuemeka Chikeka and the Grand Kadi of Yobe State, Hon. Kadi Babagana Mahdi.
