The much-anticipated Ikwuano Super 8 League kicks off Saturday , Nov 9, 2024 at the LG's Mini Stadium, Isiala- Oboro, the Local Organising Committee LOC, chairman, Mr Ogaranya Ifemeje has confirmed.
Also speaking to Dailyledger.com.ng, the Media Adviser to the LOC, Mr Nnaji Ugbaji explained that the entire youths community in Ikwuano is being mobilised to be part of the tournament
"The LOC has met with the Youths President of the communities, we also met with the expanded youths council and the Presidents-General of the communities and discussed on areas they could contribute to a successful tournament"
Ugbaji also confirmed that preparations have been in top gear to make the Ikwuano Mini Stadium conducive and comfortable for players and spectators
"You know the sponsor of the Tournament, Dr Nzeribe Okegbue is an expert in Safety as well as Security, and he has emphasized the importance of safety during the Tournament, so the LOC is not leaving anything to chance regarding safety during the tournament
"Chief Okegbue took the initiative to improve the pitch, ensuring a safe and exciting environment for both players and spectators. His efforts have focused on smoothing out rough, stony areas of the field, providing a better playing surface for the upcoming matches", he said
The Secretary of the LOC, Mr Michael Nwabeke, aka Asiwaju told dailyledger.com.ng that the eight teams - two from each clan - competing in the Tournament will complete their registration formalities on Thursday, Nov. 7 after which they will be presented with their jerseys and appearance fee of N100,000 per team
