Foundation splashes gift items  on resident for  Christmas,  New Year celebrations

 

On Monday,  Dec. 23,  2024, Oma Nma Life Saving and Health Foundation stormed Afara Ukwu Community, Ibeku clan in Umuahia North LGA, Abia State in keeping with it's mission of empowering widows, widowers, supporting the less privileged and encouraging the youths in skills acquisition programmes.



The event which was held at Union Primary School, Afara Ukwu targeted the three Autonomous Communities Viz: Okwulaga, Isiama and Enyi Ukwu and came like a surprised Christmas package for the beneficiaries, as such was not expected. They were gifted food items, like Rice, seasonings,  tomato paste, clothing materials and cash.


In her remarks, Mrs Dolaress Ariwa, the Foundation's Head of Administration explained that Oma Nma Life Saving and Health Foundation is focused on adding value to the lives of people and supporting those needing a shoulder to lean on in an otherwise harsh economic environment 


Mrs Ariwa described the December Outreach as a programme to touch the lives of widows and the less privileged women and to put a smile on their faces during the Yuletide festivities. She explained that owing to the economic downturn, some  classes of people are unable to afford even the basic necessities during the festivities. "The Oma Nma Foundation during this Christmas period decided to distribute food items and clothing to widows and other less privileged members of the society because as we are all aware the skyrocketing prices of consumables will deny many of the opportunity to have even the basics, thus we are stepping - in as a people's oriented body to ease their burden"


She added that the broader mission of the Foundation includes assisting the children of the low income class to acquire quality education; providing preventive and curative healthcare services and generally assisting members of the society to have quality lifestyle.,


The  Director- General of the Foundation, Deacon Ahamefula Orji explained that Afara Ukwu community was chosen for the programme as it hosts the office of the Foundation. In due course, our outreach programmes will go round the state and even beyond. Deacon Orji noted that Amb. Ajuzieogu is not a politician neither does he harbour political ambition but is solely interested in giving back to the community


Leaders of the Afara Ukwu community who were present during the occasion applauded the Foundation for their gesture. In her remarks, the President, Women Wing, Afaraukwu Development Association,  Chief (Mrs) Love Ezebuiro expressed her appreciation on behalf of Afara Ukwu Women for the intervention which she described as well-timed and kind hearted gesture.


In his contribution, Hon Chukwudi Elezieigwe, the Vice-President, Okwulaga Development Association, equally applauded the Oma Nma Foundation, noting thus " In times like this when the economic climate is very harsh, only very few remember the widows and less privileged, and on behalf of Afara Ukwu community, I want appreciate the Oma Nma Life Saving and Health Foundation for this noble gesture"


In his speech the Chief Executive Officer, Oma Nma Life Saving Foundation, Ambassador Iheanyichukwu Ajuzieogu Ariekpere, a businessman and philanthropist popularly called Onyeze la  Spain, traced the history of the foundation to the painful loss of her Mother due to unaffordability of health care services and urged the people of Afara Ukwu to let the foundation know abiut their health challenges. Chief Ariekpere, apart from the donation of food items and cash, promised to offer scholarship to the children of the less privileged.
