Chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC including  Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Dr Kingsley Ononogbu, it's Abia State chairman  on Friday urged  Nigerians to support the administration of President Bola Tinubu despite the harsh economic times describing it as necessary pains that will usher in manifold gains.



Kalu, the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial made the call in Abiriba, Ohafia LGA of Abia State while receiving Chief Kelvin Jombo, Chief Ikechi Anya and their supporters who were defecting from  Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the APC


Kalu, former Abia State governor who reminded Abiriba people of his good works as former governor and also the infrastructural projects executed by Chief Jombo whom he applauded   for choosing to join the APC which he  describes as the party of choice in Abia North and definitely the largest party in Africa predicted that come 2027, the APC will definitely take over the governorship of Abia.


“Follow Kelvin. A father hopes for his child to surpass him. Ikechi Anya and Kelvin Jombo should encourage others to join the ruling party. Ask yourself what Kelvin wants and take action to support him. He has earned your trust and deserves to be your representative", he said adding that  “We’re going to build a strong partnership and I urge you to support Kelvin Jombo in his future political aspirations. We are not going to allow anybody to deceive us. We will continue working for the well-being of our people. 


“You all know me as someone who work for the common people, you know my performance here in Abiriba as your governor


"“We are the biggest party in Africa and we are confident in our ability to win elections. Ignore what people say on social media. Reforms may be challenging, but everything we need is available in our Senatorial District. Support Kelvin and our party. We will reclaim our honour, not just here in Abiriba but throughout Abia State, Anambra, and other States. We are committed to working for the well-being of the common man and strengthening our institutions. We will also create opportunities for individuals to regain seats in government.”


The former governor who has taken to the media to market the Tinubu administration in recent times maintained that the ongoing economic strangulation will soon give way to better times for everyone and for whole country. He added that economic reforms are not easy in any part of the world but maintained that the hard decisions of President Bola Tinubu will eventually benefit everyone at the long run.


Jombo, a multi-millionaire  businessman and Chairman of the Sublime Group of Companies in his acceptance speech  thanked the leadership of the APC for creating the platform for everyone to pursue their ambition noting that  it was the will of God for him to join the party at the time. He further expressed confidence that Abiriba, Nkporo  and Ohafia will be fully APC in no distant time. He promise to bring gvalue and dividends of democracy to the Party and for the benefit of his people.


In his remarks, Chief Ikechi Anya expressed joy at his reception into the party saying that it is the beginning of new things in Abiriba


The Abia State Chairman of APC, Ononogbu in his remarks also speaking of the Tinubu administration noted that it takes a capable leader to take hard decisions for the benefit of the people. He lauded Jombo for his decision to join the party, adding that APC  is the best party to be in at the moment .


In his  welcome address, the APC Chairman for Ohafia LGA,  Prince Emma Nwosu, emphasized the unity and readiness of the party for the upcoming 2027 elections:  “We are working to build a party that will win elections come 2027.”


According to him, the party gladly accept new members while  taking steps for reconciliation to make the party one and stronger ahead of 2027 election.


He expressed confidence that the calibre of people they’re welcoming to the party will help the party by making it stronger to win the upcoming election of 2027.


Also speaking, former Abia State Commissioner for Transport, Nnenna Obewu who described the day as a great day in Abiriba APC said there can never be a successful elections without women.

She expressed excitement at the defection of Jombo and Anya whose presence she described as an added advantage to the party.


In his remarks, the APC youth leader in Abiriba, Kalu Edward Okorocha, expressed gratitude to Sen Kalu for his contributions to the community’s development. He noted  that even though reforms are necessary, President  Tinubu should realise that people are struggling and are unable to meet their basic needs. He affirmed that Abiriba will continue to provide the necessary support to APC.


The occasion which took place  at the Akahaba Central Stadium, Abiriba, attracted who is who in Ohafia APC including Coach Uche Okwara;  Chief Ndubuisi Emeh;  Zonal Woman Leader Hon Mrs. Ada Ogbuagu;  Mrs Joy Agwara.
